Our Story

My name is Kikka K. M. Sigurðardóttir, and I am the founder and owner of Women Writers Oasis. With over 30 years of experience in writing, editing, and publishing, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible talent women possess, often held back by self-doubt and imposter syndrome. My passion is to create a supportive online community, offer engaging writing courses, and host inspiring writers' retreats. I aim to assist women to overcome these hurdles, finish their stories, and share their voices with the world.

I have been writing professionally for over 30 years. I started out by winning a competition in Iceland for best draft for a TV movie for young writers. I was one of ten young European writers to win the Europe Geneva prix, and got a grant to write the manuscript. I then went to write radio plays for Icelandic radio station RÚV. From there I started writing plays, books, TV series, Films and 2 musicals for kids and one of my musicals, Ávaxtakarfan (english: the Fruitbasket or Fruitland) is still very popular in Iceland, 28 years after it was written. 

I have been working as a writer and producer for a long time and have taken a lot of writing courses for novel writing, writing manuscripts for film and TV and many more. 

I love to give new writers the tool to write their stories.

My dream for Women Writers Oasis is to cultivate a vibrant community where women connect, receive expert guidance on writing and publishing, and gain the confidence to share their narratives. We envision hosting enriching writers' retreats in breathtaking locations, fostering lifelong friendships, and creating a space for shared growth and inspiration.
